QCR Scanner privacy policy
Last updated:
In short
- Text and QR recognition runs on your phone; what you scan is stored on your phone.
- No account is needed; we do not collect your name, email address or phone number.
- Cloud speech recognition, AI and sending to a server are off by default. If you turn them on, data goes directly, with your own key, to the provider or address you choose; it never reaches us.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob. The remove-ads purchase is handled by Google Play.
1. Scope
This policy covers the QCR Scanner app for Android. QCR Scanner reads text (OCR) and QR codes with the phone camera, takes voice input and collects values in lists. For the revisetouch.com website itself, see the site privacy notice.
2. Responsible party and contact
ReviseTouch is responsible for personal data in the app. For questions and requests: [email protected].
3. What stays on your phone
Camera images and scanned text. Camera images are processed on your phone with Google ML Kit. Recognised text, values and, if you choose, the image saved with a value are kept in the app’s database and files on your phone. Apart from the features you turn on, described below, none of it is sent to any server.
Voice input. With voice input, your speech is converted to text by your phone’s speech recognition service (for example Google); audio may be passed to that service temporarily. A voice note you attach to a value is kept only on your phone and is deleted when you delete the value.
4. Features you turn on
All of the following are off by default. In none of them does data pass through our servers, and we have no access to it. The chosen provider’s own privacy policy and retention rules apply. API keys and server authorisation details you enter are kept on your phone in encrypted storage backed by Android Keystore.
- Cloud speech recognition
- If you turn it on in Settings and enter your own API key, your microphone audio is streamed in real time during voice input to the provider you choose (xAI, Deepgram or ElevenLabs). If you leave the option on, values from your active list and your watch list may be sent as recognition hints.
- Rules and templates with AI
- If you generate a rule or template with your own API key, the request you write is sent to the provider you choose (Google Gemini, OpenAI or OpenRouter). If you attach a photo as an example, that photo is added to the same request, and if you leave the related option checked, so is the text your phone read from the photo or from your last scan. OpenRouter forwards the request to the provider of the model you select. The app does not keep any of it.
- Sending to a server (webhook)
- If you enter your own server address, your scan data is sent only to that address. Only you have access to it and to the data there.
- Sharing
- When you export a list with Share, it is prepared as a CSV file and handed to the app you choose (email, messaging, cloud drive…).
5. Ads and consent
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect data such as the advertising ID, device information and approximate location; see the Google privacy policy and AdMob’s data disclosure.
Users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are shown a consent screen about the use of data for ads and measurement (Google User Messaging Platform). If you do not consent, personalised ads are not shown; if consent cannot be obtained, the app requests no ads at all. You can change your choice later with Privacy options in the app menu.
6. The remove-ads purchase
The one-time purchase that removes ads is made through Google Play; Google processes your payment details and we never see them. The app only notes on your phone that you own the purchase, and checks it with Google Play.
7. Permissions
- Camera
- To scan text and QR codes.
- Microphone
- For voice data entry.
- Internet
- For ads, the purchase and, if you turn them on, cloud speech recognition, AI and sending to a server.
8. Retention and deletion
Your lists, values, images and voice notes stay on your phone until you delete them. You can delete them in the app, or remove all of them by uninstalling the app. They are not included in your phone’s backup.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Your rights
To exercise your rights under Article 11 of Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and the data protection rules that apply where you live (access, correction, deletion, objection), write to [email protected]. Since most of your data stays only on your phone, most requests are met by deleting it in the app.
11. Changes
If what the app collects or sends changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes.
