Organizing Documents

Stacks and All Pages views, document selection, drag-and-drop reordering, dropping pages, rotation, and the large preview.

You shape your captured documents into exactly what you want before printing. Deste offers two views and a large preview layer for this.

Two views

The toggle in the top bar actually has three positions — Stacks, All Pages, and History:

  • Stacks: Each document becomes a card with its cover (first page), name, and page count. Ideal for selecting, ordering, and rotating documents in bulk.
  • All Pages: Shows every page of all selected documents in a single grid. Handy for working with individual pages — dropping, rotating.
  • History: An archive of deleted and cleared documents. Covered in its own History doc.

Previews are rendered with pdfium and load lazily, so the interface stays smooth even with large documents.

Selection and enablement

  • Selection: Each document has a checkbox. Only selected documents print and count toward the page summary. Use Select All / Deselect in the top bar to change them all at once.
  • A deselected document stays in the stack but is excluded from the print — a way to exclude without deleting.

Reordering (drag and drop)

  • In Stacks view, drag document cards to change the print order; an insertion line appears between cards as you drag.
  • In All Pages view, you can reorder pages within a document.

Printing always happens in the order you see.

Dropping pages

Remove unwanted pages from the print — blank pages, covers, ad pages. A dropped page stays dimmed in the view but doesn’t print; you can restore it anytime. You can keep or drop all pages of a document at once. The kept pages count in the bottom bar updates live.

Deleting and History

Deleting a document from the stack doesn’t destroy it — the document is moved to History. There you can preview it and re-queue it back to the stack at any time. Likewise, Clear All in the top bar moves every captured document to History.

Note: Deletion isn’t permanent; documents are “moved to History — can re-queue anytime.” Documents are only deleted for good when you choose Reset in History.

See the History doc for details.

Rotation

  • Rotate a single page in 90° steps (for misoriented scanned pages).
  • Rotate a whole document together.

Rotation is reflected in both the preview and the print; together with the black-and-white and eco previews it stays WYSIWYG.

Large preview (overlay)

Clicking a page opens a full-size preview layer over the panel. There you can:

  • Navigate forward/back between pages,
  • Jump to any page from the rail on the left,
  • Rotate the page left/right, or rotate the whole document,
  • Drop the page from the print.

The preview reflects the current black-and-white and eco settings — so you see what you’ll print.

Adding files

Besides captured prints, you can add PDFs directly from disk with Add Files in the top bar. Added PDFs are organized in the stack just like other documents.

Next step

  • Print options — copies, duplex, eco, and print quality.
  • Saving as PDF — merging selected pages into a single PDF.
  • History — preview and re-queue deleted/cleared documents.
