Settings
Dark mode, run at startup, auto-clean captured files after print/save/close, system tray behavior, the capture folder, and the About panel.
You reach Deste’s settings from the window opened by the gear (⚙) button in the top bar.
Dark mode
The Dark mode toggle switches the whole interface to dark colors — its subtitle says exactly that: “Switch the interface to dark colors.” Your choice is persisted, so Deste opens with the same look next time.
Run at startup
The Run at startup switch makes Deste start silently in the tray every time Windows boots. Since printing only works while Deste is running, keeping this on is recommended. Its subtitle: “Start Deste in the background (tray) when Windows starts.”
Technically, this switch adds a shortcut that launches deste.exe directly in the tray; it’s cleaned up when you turn the switch off. That way Deste starts in the tray without opening a window.
Auto-clean captured files
The three toggles in this section are independent, and when on they automatically move all captured documents to History. This is not permanent deletion: the documents stay in History and can be restored anytime with Re-queue.
- Clean after printing — “Delete all captured documents after a successful print.” When a print succeeds, the captured documents move to History.
- Clean after saving — “Delete all captured documents after saving a PDF.” After you save a PDF, the captured documents move to History.
- Clean on close — “When the window is closed, ask whether to delete all captured documents.” On window close, a confirmation (“Close and clear?”) appears before exit.
Note: “Clean” here doesn’t mean permanent deletion; documents move to History and can be returned to the active list with Re-queue.
System tray
Deste is a tray application:
- Closing the window doesn’t quit the app; it just hides to the tray (the capture server keeps running).
- Right-click the tray icon and choose Show Window to bring it back.
- To quit entirely, choose Quit from the tray menu.
Language
Settings includes two language buttons: English | Türkçe. Use them to switch the interface language instantly; your choice is persisted.
Capture folder
Captured prints are written as PDFs to:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Deste\captured
If you want, you can redirect to a different path with the RUSTPRINTER_OUT environment variable. Deste watches this folder live.
About
The lower part of the settings window shows product info: name (Deste / Print Stack), version, license (MIT), and Website, Docs, and GitHub links. The links open in your default browser.
