Quick Start

Print to Deste from any app and organize and print your first document in under a minute.

Once Deste is installed (Installation), your first print takes under a minute. The flow is always the same: capture → organize → print.

1. Print to Deste

In any app (Word, Excel, a browser, a PDF reader — it doesn’t matter) open Print and choose Deste as the printer, then print.

The document doesn’t go to paper; Deste captures it as a PDF, and within a few seconds it appears at the top of the stack in the Deste window. You can send as many documents as you like; they all collect in the same stack.

2. See your documents

The Deste window has three views (switch between them from the top toggle):

  • Stacks: Each document appears as a card with its cover and page count. Ideal for overall ordering and selection.
  • All Pages: Shows every page of every document in a single grid. Handy for dropping or rotating individual pages.

Click a page to open the large preview (overlay), where you can navigate between pages, rotate, and drop.

The third view, History, is where deleted or cleared documents are archived; from there you can re-queue any document back into the active list (see History).

3. Organize

Get the stack exactly how you want it before printing:

  • Selection: Deselect documents you don’t want to print. Only selected documents print.
  • Reordering: Drag and drop documents (and, in All Pages view, pages) to reorder them.
  • Dropping pages: Remove unwanted pages from the print — blank pages, covers, ads.
  • Rotation: Rotate misoriented pages, or a whole document, in 90° steps.

The summary in the bottom bar shows live how many documents and how many total pages will print.

4. Set the output options

From the bottom bar, decide how the print is produced:

  • Copies count,
  • Duplex (double-sided): one-sided, long edge, or short edge,
  • Eco (saving): off / light / medium / high — reduces toner use,
  • Black-and-white printing,
  • Preview size (only the size of the cards on screen).

For details, see Print options.

5. Print or save

You have three options:

  • Print — sends the selected pages directly and silently to your default real printer. (If copies is more than one, a confirmation appears to guard against paper waste.)
  • Print with dialog — opens the standard Windows print window, where you pick the printer, paper, and copies.
  • Save PDF — merges the selected pages, in view order, into a single PDF and saves it to disk; you can optionally turn on Compress while saving to shrink the file (see Compressing PDFs).

Note: Deste never sends output to its own printer — that would re-capture the print and create a loop. If you don’t have a real printer, use “Save PDF”.
